This month’s feature wines are from Katnook Estate in the Coonawarra region of South Australia. Katnook’s rich history stretches back to 1896, when Coonawarra’s first vintage was crafted in their woolshed.
The tasting notes for the Founder’s Block chardonnay state that it is ‘peach and nectarine with some zesty grapefruit and creamy oak on the nose. Subtle crème caramel, brioche and creamy notes add a lovely touch of complexity. Rich and creamy mouth feel, balanced with elegant oak and a fresh, lingering finish.’
The Founder’s Block cabernet sauvignon is ‘deep red with purple hues in colour. On the nose attractive notes of blackcurrant, ripe plum and subtle hints of mint, chocolate and vanilla. The palette expresses rich dark berry fruit, sweet spice and oak characters.’
In other words: they’re a very good drop. Ask for our feature wines at the bar, by the glass or bottle.
