Our new feature wines come from Rutherglen Estates. The Victorian winery is located in the easterly corner of the Murray River valley plains, 275 kilometres north-east of Melbourne via the Hume Freeway and just 10 kilometres from the Murray River. In the mid 1800s the Rutherglen region was one of the largest wine-grape growing areas in the southern hemisphere, exporting predominantly fortified wines to England and Europe. Rutherglen Estates’ winery has been in operation from 2001.
While wintry weather lingers, enjoy the Sangiovese – a juicy, elegant wine with earthy notes. On warmer spring days the well-rounded Pinot Grigio will make an excellent drop.
